Today was Nick's 5th birthday. It confounds me that 5 years ago today, he was getting transported from hospital to hospital until he found his way to DuPont. We never, ever thought that he would be as healthy as he is.
That kid is a walking miracle...his heart was enlarged when he was born, and he had a hole in the wall of his heart or something to that effect. He was in the hospital for a month after he was born, and my sister stayed with him, leaving her two younger kids in our care.
But, God worked a miracle and Nick was released from the cardiologist in February, three months after he was born, because the cardiologist could find nothing wrong with him.
I have to remember this when I want to kick his 5 year old butt because he's just convinced my sister and his father to do what he wants.
Fun was had by all...Nick got some obnoxiously loud presents and we all ate too much barbequed chicken, turkey, as well as too much ice cream cake.
